we spent some time at a state park today, where I managed to get a few mother-daughter pictures off. I guess I haven't been shooting in a while, but it's good to know half-decent pictures are still possible without a whole lot of practice...

it was 60 degrees on thanksgiving day, so the windows were opened while the turkey was cooking and the girls poked there heads out... just as I was standing in the yard. how fortuitous :)

so I'm really feeling the limitations of my aging d70 lately, from the noise in the shadows to it's complete lack of ability to keep up when I need it to. yesterday I took 500 some shots of the kids on the tree swing and it just couldn't snap images [...]

for all those that doubt my hand-holding abilities... ok, it's not 1/30, but it's close, and not too bad for a moving target :)
the first day of school. this was just natural 8:30am sunlight - no fill flash, no reflectors.
we went to a gathering last night and there was just a hint of sunshine passing through the trees right on the rocking horse... just as she started playing on it. luckily, she stayed on long enough for me to run to the car and fetch my camera.

I love kites, and every year we spend at least one evening after dinner flying them on the beach. this year it was spiderman :)
the skimboard was very popular at the beach this year, thanks (in part) to some starter lessons from his uncle/my brother. he did pretty well, and I may work up a triptych of his attempts, as well as those of his sister.
