My landscapes/etc Photo Gallery is back online. Also, I fixed the stupid issue with it not letting browsers cache images, so, now after the thumbnails load, it'll keep them cached decently and thus be fast.
From artemis112, five words she associates with me, with the caveat that I elaborate on them in some way. I'd pass the meme on, but I'm going to be busy for the next 9 days or so, so instead I'm just going to write.
I went hiking. 4 miles! Roughly 10,000 steps. And I could do it and still feel good afterwards! Yay! And yay to aabassplayer coming with me so I'd have a walking buddy.
I just discovered the art of Josephine Wall. Lots of Goddess art, lots of fairies, lots and lots of nature. Amazing beautiful fantasy and magical art. Wow. Go check her out. :)
Went hiking yesterday. Got the pics updated today.I did get a dragon fruit to try. |
Mystery School 2009 - AtalantaThe story about vows we make...to ourselves. [...] Progress All Around
Daniel helped me "fix the stupid" around our house this weekend, and clutter is gradually becoming organized and properly tucked away. Our living room is opening up a lot, which is so pretty. My craft storage came into the office with me, and that's working well. And the stinky cabinets [...]
Doing Okay
I'm feeling better after some rest and as life stress settles out. This has been a long week, largely due to dealing with two sick cats (who are, gradually, getting better). When I get a chance to slow down, my mind goes wandering off in imagination, which is at least [...]
Am Back
Back from the Grove. Much to think about, some things to decompress on when I get time. First is dinner and cat care and generally tending mundane life that needs me. And getting some sleep.
It was a wonderful week. I may post more on it later. [...] Sex Information
A link to info on riskiness of various sexual activities got passed along in one of my email lists recently. (Click-through is not safe for work. Ads along the side include [good but graphic] porn.)
It goes into a fair degree of detail in the list, of various [...] Cupcakes!
The day was peaceful and happy here. Lunch was tacos with Daniel, with music on for background. Afternoon included a nap in the sun with my kitties. So pretty and relaxing.
I had picked up a new kind of frosting the other day, that has no hydrogenated oils; it [...] Birthday
It's my birthday today. Celebrating is a little bit weird; I'm exhausted from sick-cat care and the related side effects. But I suppose I should at least acknowledge the day, so I won't feel like I missed out too much. Daniel and I will probably do our private celebration a [...]
Exercise, Stats, and Swimsuit
I've been working on gaining strength/endurance and losing weight for several months now. It was slow going at first, but so far I've dropped about 10 pounds and progress is getting faster now. I'm also finding that clothes generally fit better, even though I haven't dropped a full size yet.
[...] Rites
Mystery School continues to touch my heart and mind in ways that words can't adequately describe. This weekend was amazing.
When I start the learning process, I only think I understand something. It's not until much later, with more context and experience, that I finally understand it in my [...] Rites of Passage
I'm headed off to the Grove for Rites of Passage weekend. The weather is clear crisp fall, and it sounds like we'll have enough people to make this a very full event.
Metaphorical death and rebirth, challenge and change; it's time for transformation. One of the big [...] Exercise Itching
Last night's workout was interrupted by exercise-induced histamine response. I haven't traced down all the triggers yet, for me, but basically - under some conditions, instead of my body being able to go into a normal cardio workout, whatever muscles are being used suddenly get extremely itchy and painful. [...]
Winterizing
The tomatoes in pots have been brought inside, and are enjoying their seat in front of the patio door.
The leaves are changing and falling from the tree in front of my house. Daniel started a raised bed planter with dirt and composting materials we already had. And it's [...] Noticing the Green100 Species Challenge -- can you identify 100 species of plant within walking distance of your home? This one struck my interest because I knew plants well when I was a kid. The ones that grew around my parents' place I could easily identify and know what to expect from [...] Bliss of the Familiar
I came across a quote I really like on another blog site.
Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. [...] Celebrating 10 yearsSeeking, always seeking
I get lonely. I hang out online wanting to talk to people. Few people are active. I stay on later, still edgy, still lonely.
Most of my friends are more likely to be chattable in the early hours of the morning. And yet I stay up late which means [...] Teenagers and Society
The Road Back from "Whatever" (blog post by Heather Corinna)
I don't remember precisely where it came from. But I remember seeing that sort of punishing attitude around me a lot in my childhood and teen years. Shades of it still impact how I think of myself now. [...] Sing! Sing sing sing sing sing!!!
*GLEE!!!!*
My voice just figured out what "support" means in song and I sang my way through one very familiar grandiose-style song with way way more volume and clarity than I ever have before. In my life. I am so excited! I have always had a rather [...] New web comicToo Funny
Me: ... and this table's Made in China too. What isn't, anymore?
Daniel: Uh... "Free Tibet" signs? *blink blink* Okay hun, that was good. :D [...] So Busy
Somehow I ended up with a collision of house chores and long work days all in the same week. The extra hours it takes to cover for a day off for travel are, well... tiring. And I still have so much to do this weekend.
The long week of [...] INFJ

I'm typically up late; it's just the current schedule I'm in. I have trouble falling asleep when I'm not ready, which often drives my sleep time later.
At the moment I'm fairly perky and chipper, and was looking around on IM for friends to chat with, when I realized [...] Summer Roads Quilt Design
Summer Roads
Inspired by memories of summers walking barefoot on dusty dirt roads and paths. Evolution of the Design There's one simpler stage before this, in which I found a block that makes the nifty squared X pattern, and tiled [...] Playing with Designs
Moon over Water
(Click to view it big, it looks more accurate that way.) I'm playing around in Electric Quilt 6 software, with design ideas for a potential projects. I'm probably going to come up with several ideas first and then pick one to gradually work [...] Pictures by Request
Click for larger view.
These aren't going into a project of any sort; they're entirely experimental to see if I could understand foundation paper piecing. And [...] Quilting, day one
Well, it took "all day" but I did make my first quilt block. Granted, most of the day was setup... I hadn't unpacked my sewing supplies since moving, and they were of course strewn across a zillion different boxes. At this point I've rounded up 80% of them, and caught [...]
Feeling Productively Selfish
* Books! Book on quilting, book on sewing, book on creating your own clothing patterns. It's a good combo.
* Color! Brilliantly colored cloth for my practices to keep me inspired. And a more muted one to repair a block in my existing quilt from a relative. * Time! A [...] Blog Info:
