I hate to have to do this, folks, but something else needs my attention over the next few days. Mainly, my family. Next would be the proposed statewide smoking ban in Wisconsin.
To make it short, the non-profit soundrels who make their living off of well-meaning people’s charitable gifts are [...]
…we have a government that claims that it can’t possibly round up illegal aliens, yet at the same time believes that it can change the climate of the earth?

That’s the message that Rep. Ron Erhardt (R-MN) allegedly sent to a Minnesota taxpayer when they phoned him at his home, asking him to not vote with the tax-and-spend democrats to override Governor Tim Pawlenty’s veto of the $6.6 billion tax increase. (Erhardt did vote with the democrats and five [...]
I read a very interesting article this morning about Barack Obama, and what the women in his life can tell us about the man, himself.
The piece details things like Michelle Obama’s "public bitch-slapping" of her husband, her now infamous quotes about not being proud of America until now, [...]
Nick Coleman, editorialist for the Minneapolis Star Tribune, wrote a piece today that completely missed the point (as usual). He was too busy painting we "rednecks" as jackbooted racists to concern himself with why so many Minnesotans are fed up with their government.
Maybe we [...]
In one brief phone call, Nancy Corazzi’s lender yanked away what was left of the $95,000 home equity line of credit that she and her husband took out five months ago.The lender informed her that her Howard County home had plummeted in value and the company did not want [...]
My daughter received this "High School Musical" birthday invitation yesterday, and it left me feeling a bit unsettled.
Truth be told, it disturbs me so much that I need someone to create a cheeky caption for it so that I can enjoy it from a strictly [...]
My dear friend Monica (who many of you know as "Mo’" in my comments section) is leaving her beautiful country of Italy to come visit me here in America. I haven’t seen her in nearly two years, so we’re both very excited and have been emailing each other constantly about [...]
I just realized that I am completely out of my mind for living here in Wisconsin.
The radio weather man just said that it may get up to a whopping 30 degrees on Saturday, to which I uttered, "Thank you, God."
If only we had a little global warming… hmmm….
[...]
Today, I found out that the young woman who was driving the van that killed four children (two of whom were brothers) in rural Minnesota was an illegal immigrant. I also found out that she was picked up by the police in 2006 for driving without a license.
This [...]
I wrote this for the Ban the Ban Wisconsin site, but I wanted to post it here, as well.
Perhaps it is useful to recall that the primary purpose of a smoking ban is to protect non-smokers who choose not to expose themselves to toxins.
Today is a sad day, friends. The Wisconsin democrats have successfully limited the choices in education for our children by doing the bidding of the WEAC (teachers union).
Senator Sheila Harsdorf’s Press Release:
Virtual Schools Threatened by Senate Democrats
(State Capitol, Madison) . . . . Nearly a month after a bipartisan [...]
From Jeff Peterson, Polk County Supervisor:
County Clerk Cathy Albrecht must have worked late last night; the election results are already posted on the county’s web page. The referendum asking whether voters supported building a new highway facility went down to a 2,016-8,072 defeat — about four to one opposed. [...]
A Silicon Valley lawmaker is gaining momentum with a bill that would require "climate change" to be among the science topics that all California public school students are taught.
The measure, by state Sen. Joe Simitian, D-Palo Alto, also would mandate that future science textbooks approved [...]
These kids are out of their fool minds. Yet, they supposedly are our future.
Yet another reason to discourage my children from attending college. Not only is it too expensive, it apparently makes them more stupid, as well.
h/t: The World According to Nick
"Obama has an astonishingly empty paper trail. He’s going around issuing promissory notes on the future that he can’t possibly redeem. Promises to heal the world with negotiations with the likes of Iran’s president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Promises to transcend the conundrums of entitlement reform that require real and [...]
"… life’s not fair. Go to Menards, buy some lumber, build a bridge, and get over it."

As I told you in an earlier post, I attended a town hall meeting in Luck, Wisconsin, regarding "Health Care Reform". I didn’t really find it so much a "Town Hall" meeting as a down-talking sales pitch for Healthy Wisconsin, but hey, that’s just me.
State Rep. [...]
Today, my aunt gave my uncle the best Valentine’s Day present, ever. She gave him not a heart, but 68% of her liver. They are both resting now, after the transplant surgery.
I’ve never asked anyone who frequents my blog to pray, but I’m asking that those of you who would [...]
Last night Obama spoke to "tens of thousands" of screaming fans in Madison, Wisconsin, in an attempt to solidify his democrat victory in the last rounds of American "Political" Idol.
His speech - as with all of his speeches - offered nothing of substance, nothing of policy. The only [...]
The premise is that people can’t pay their own way. Then again, most people can’t pay to replace their house after a fire, either, so they buy insurance. The further premise in health care is that people can’t afford even that.
Why? Because the market’s screwed up. The government’s been [...]
People are migrating to states with no income tax. Umm, duh?
All I can say is that South Dakota is looking pret-ty good right about now.
(If you live in Wisconsin, or if you’re contemplating moving to Wisconsin, you should read the "now" link. I mean it. [...]
Tonight, I spent an hour and a half watching Senator Kathleen Vinehout perform a magic show. It was a stroke of genius, really, as she used emotions and sob stories to create the illusion that government is the answer to all of their health care [...]
All I can say is, at first I was disgusted, and then I laughed my butt off.
From the Code Pink website:
The initiative was triggered by the unexpected appearance of a Marine Recruiting Station in Berkeley in 2007 – a phenomenon never expected nor experienced in this town that [...]
The City of Berkeley has backed down on their resolution to rid their utopia of the United States Marines. To be fair, it does sound as if the city council people are truly sorry. But it’s difficult to tell what made them back down… their [...]
I love Legos, and I love Monty Python. Put them together, and you can’t have anything other than a masterpiece.
Some of you may have seen this before, but you’ve never seen it on Pheistyblog. Just humor me and watch it again.

The Referendum Question for February 19, 2008:
“Should Polk County pursue the financing, design, land acquisition and construction of a new County Highway Facility so long as it does not exceed $10,000,000?”
The current Polk County Board of Supervisors has acted irresponsibly with [...]
Those of you who are employed by private companies or who own a business realize that our economy is unhealthy. Annual pay raises have been skimpy this year (if they were given at all), and many investors are nervous about the pending doom of a [...]
When I was about twelve years old, I asked my mother why she and Dad named me "Joey". I was teased incessantly for it. The most common phrase I heard from people after telling them my name was "What? Did your dad want a boy or something?"
So I asked my [...]
Okay, so the content on Pheistyblog has been pretty anemic as of late, and I apologize. I promise that this weekend I’ll get some good stuff up.
My friend and fellow blogger, Ryan, and I have been very busy with our grassroots effort to give Wisconsinites the other side [...]
Snow, Snow, Snow: Sounds like our fellow Wisconsinites to the south got some nasty weather today, while we up here in the great white north had sunshine and not a cloud in the sky.
Lucky Us: The presidential campaign circus is descending upon ‘Sconie.
Tough Times for the [...]
Tonight I was interviewed by Chris Placek, a reporter from the Marquette Tribune, the Marquette University campus newspaper in Milwaukee. Ryan and I were initially contacted by Chris through our grassroots effort, Ban the Ban Wisconsin.
During the course of our conversation, I talked [...]
My good friend, Elisabeth, sent this to me in an email today.
While walking down the street one day a US senator is tragically hit by a truck and dies.
His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.
"Welcome to heaven," says St. Peter. "Before you [...]
This is my mother…
She just bought some new graphics software. I just may recruit her for my next Nancy Pelosi Photoshop job.
Rock on, Mom.
My partner in crime, Ryan, posted something interesting on our shiny, new Ban the Ban Wisconsin blog (which I highly recommend checking out), that caught my attention:
Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
It’s an age-old question, and one that scientists should really stop and think about [...]
Hubby and I watched V For Vendetta last night (for the second time) and were discussing it this morning in our smoking room (the garage) over a cup of coffee and a cigarette.
I was commenting on Natalie Portman’s supberb acting abilities, and [...]
I’m pleased to announce that The Dan Miller Experience (yes, that’s his real name) will be occasionally submitting guest articles to Pheistyblog. I appreciate Mr. Experience’s obvious love of freedom and quirky sense of humor, so I’ve asked him to write a post now and then.
I’d tell you to [...]
The two following videos are absolutely hilarious, if for no other reason, than as evidence of the Great American Political Media Meltdown.
I flippin’ love it. Bring it ON!
Don’t you love the lady down in the lower left-hand corner who says, "Is she not a ‘great American’ anymore, now, Sean, because [...]
As of late, the St. Paul Pioneer Press has been attempting to convince us, their neighbors across the border, to join their cause and pass a statewide smoking ban in Wisconsin. The paper has published ten articles within the past two weeks, each including language in favor of a [...]
Madison - Fourteen of the 33 state senators claimed daily expense stipends that totalled $10,000 or more in 2007 — a year dominated by a four-month Capitol impasse over the state budget.
Lawmakers who live outside Dane County can claim an $88 daily expense when they [...]
In my humble opinion, a more honest advertisement would have been "Spend your economic stimulus welfare check on free beer" special.
But hey, that’s just me.
Nick posted this graphic (from the National Taxpayers Union Foundation) over on his site, and I was so amazed by it, that I had to post it here.
Ron Paul makes the other candidates look like a bunch of young bimbos [...]
Unfortunately, I’m too sick to attend this event. I’m really bummed out about it, but I know that if I went, people would be disgusted by my constant sneezing and nose-blowing. So, I think I’ll spare everyone and stay home.

I am officially throwing my support behind Ron Paul for President. I’ve been leaning Paul from the beginning, but was leery of the supposed "crazies" that the media claims are his followers. Since I’m not one to believe anything the media tells me, I decided to do some research on [...]
